Broncos News: Wes Welker's horse "Undrafted" finishes 5th in Kentucky

In what may be a relatively slow day in Broncos news on the football field, one member of the Denver Broncos' receiving corps is taking his time off to jump into the world of horse racing.

Per Mike Wilkening of Pro Football Talk, Denver Broncos wide receiver Wes Welker had a major stake in a race at Kentucky's Keeneland Racecourse today, entering his "four-year-old gelding Undrafted, a three-time career winner" into one of Saturday's high-stakes races at the track.

"However, Undrafted could not add to his tally of victories, as he finished fifth, beaten by close to three lengths, in the Grade 2, $175,000 Commonwealth, Keeneland’s seventh race of the day," said Wilkening.

Undrafted was reportedly bumped at the start, and struggled in the middle of the race -- finishing relatively strong in order to finish in fifth.

Undrafted earned Welker a cool $5,250, which while awesome in our world, comes as mere peanuts to a guy like the Denver Broncos' star receiver.
