The Denver Broncos have hit on a few of their recent draft picks, but have also had some major misses (i.e. Paxton Lynch). This group still fell short of the playoffs and they're looking to add a few more impact players in the draft this year to help them get back to the postseason. As such, here are four players they should be targeting in the first round of the draft:
1) Baker Mayfield, QB, Oklahoma Sooners
Until the Broncos find a reliable quarterback, Denver will not win games. So why not draft the Heisman trophy winner? Mayfield can handle the spotlight and pressure and comes with playing on a talented team like the Broncos, and the team already got a close-up look at him during the Senior Bowl. In the last three seasons at Oklahoma, Mayfield had 117 passing touchdowns and just 20 interceptions.

2) Josh Allen, QB, Wyoming Cowboys
Allen has all the physical tools (size, arm, athleticism), but they're very raw. He's had some consistency and decision-making issues at Wyoming, but some team will fall in love with his upside. The Broncos, should Mayfield be off the board, may be the ones to gamble on him.

3) Calvin Ridley, WR, Alabama Crimson Tide
However, if Denver signs a quarterback in free agency (Kirk Cousins), who will they target?
Ridley's numbers won't wow you because he plays in Alabama's run-heavy offense, but don't let that fool you - he's a virtual lock to be the top wide receiver taken in the draft. He's the best route-runner we've been in some time with good hands and excellent speed, making him a nightmare matchup at just 6-foot-1 and 190 pounds. Denver could part with Emmanuel Sanders this offseason and need to find a replacement - or someone else who can be a weapon along with him and Demaryius Thomas. Ridley will provide that and more.

4) Quenton Nelson, OG, Notre Dame Fighting Irish
Nelson is clearly the best interior offensive lineman in this class and Denver would be smart to invest in keeping a new quarterback upright and giving whoever that is the best chance to succeed. They need to improve the interior, which will help their running game that hasn't been consistent.
