The Denver Broncos hold the final pick in the first round of the NFL Draft after winning Super Bowl 50, but after losing several key free agents, they need to bring in some impact players through the draft to make the Super Bowl again next season. With that in mind, here are three players the Broncos shoudl target in the first round of the draft.
3) Taylor Decker, OT, Ohio State Buckeyes
A team in need of upgrading their offensive line, Decker could step in and start at right tackle right away for the Broncos. He makes his mark as a run-blocker, but he is far from a slouch in pass protection. Denver would be ecstatic is a prospect with this much talent and potential would fall to them.
2) Kevin Dodd, DE, Clemson Tigers
The Broncos are looking to find a replacement for their front seven losses in free agency, and Dodd has a great chance to be that guy because of his versatility. He finished second in the country with 23.5 tackles for loss last season and has 12 sacks, showcasing his ability to get into the backfield. Dodd needs to work on his consistency, but the talent and ability is there for him to develop into a gamechanger off the edge or up the middle.
1) Paxton Lynch, QB, Memphis Tigers
Denver has a big need at the quarterback position after Peyton Manning retired and Brock Osweiler signed with the Houston Texans. The team did make a trade for Mark Sanchez, but he has proven that he can't be a consistently viable starter in the league. Lynch is someone in the Osweiler mold - big, athletic quarterback with an accurate arm - that could be Denver's long-term answer at the position. Denver may have to trade up to get him, but if Lynch falls to them, they won't hesitate to get him.
