The Denver Broncos fell short of their Super Bowl aspirations last year, and with a new coaching staff, they’re hoping to break that threshold this season. This offseason figures to play a big role in determining Denver’s success in the foreseeable future, so here are three things we learned:
1) Peyton Manning is more motivated than ever
The future Hall of Famer has many great qualities to his game, but it’s his “eff you” mentality when it comes to silencing the haters which should lead to big things in 2015. A motivated Peyton Manning is a dangerous Peyton Manning, and he’s going to come in to training cap with his tail on fire and something to prove after all of the retirement talk at the opening of the offseason.
2) Defense is a priority
Aqib Talib. Von Miller. DeMarcus Ware. Chris Harris. The Denver Broncos’ 2015 defense will be a cup overflowing with talented pieces - they even took the risk of drafting talented but sometimes troubled DE Shane Ray from Missouri. From a pure individual talent perspective, there are very few defenses out there that can hang with the Broncos. The fact that the unit has had some time to build cohesion and trust is only going to be icing on that cake of awesomeness.
3) The pieces are in place
Denver has been the best regular season team in the AFC and a Super Bowl contender ever since they brought in Peyton Manning, showing they had the core talent necessary to win a title. They've managed to keep all of those guys together, and now with some new additions to fill a few holes, Denver should be even more lethal in 2015.
