The Denver Broncos made a trade with the Detroit Lions, giving up the No. 28 overall pick, a 5th-round pick, another 5th-round pick in 2016, and Manny Ramirez for the No. 23 overall pick to select Shane Ray out of Missouri.
Position: Defensive End
Measurables: 6’3”, 245 lbs, 33 1/8” arm length, 9” hands
Analysis:
Ray's burst onto the scene in 2013 as he put up ridiculous stats (39 tackles, 9 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks) while backing up Michael Sam and Kony Ealy. He only improved in 2014 as he led the SEC in TFL (20.5) and sacks (13.5) even though he needs to improve his technique and expand his arsenal of moves. His stock dropped a few days ago after he was given a warning for having marijuana in the car with him, but his first-step quickness and sustained burst off the edge are special and will allow him to make an immediate impact in the NFL.
