2014 NFL Draft: Denver Broncos Select Cody Latimer

With the 56th overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, the Denver Broncos have selected Cody Latimer out of Indiana.

Position: Wide Receiver

Measurables: 6’2”, 215 lbs, 32 5/8” arm length, 9 5/8” hands

Latimer blossomed as the Indiana Hoosiers’ leading wide receiver in 2013, posting 72 receptions for 1,096 yards and 9 touchdowns in 12 starts. Latimerr had missed the final three games of 2012 with hernia surgery, but showed little to no ill effects from it during his breakout 2013 campaign. Latimer did not fully work out at the NFL Combine due to a foot injury, but did bench 225 pounds 23 times to lead all wide receivers (and also out-lifting some linemen).

Latimer uses his size to his advantage both on jump-balls and in combatting route jams. His size and strength induces separation between himself and defensive backs, using good ball awareness to turn on a dime when the ball reaches his catching radius. Latimer has a possession receiver’s hands, along with the brute strength to open up the field after the catch. He is also an adept downfield blocker who continues to improve year-to-year.
