American defender Geoff Cameron missed his 11th consecutive Premier League match Tuesday, sitting out Stoke City’s 2-0 victory over Watford with a knee injury that has sidelined him since late October.
He was never a candidate for the upcoming U.S. training camp because it falls outside the FIFA international calendar, but Coach Bruce Arena will need him back on the field and in top form for the Potters in time for selection ahead of the World Cup qualifiers in late March against Honduras and Panama.
Cameron missed two qualifiers in November, defeats that ultimately led to Jurgen Klinsmann’s dismissal.
