The new women’s pro soccer team in Washington now has a name, logo, club president and head coach but still no players, general manager or schedule.
DC Power Football Club is slated to launch in August as a founding member of the USL Super League, an eight-team circuit that will compete against the well-established National Women’s Soccer League.
The team will share Audi Field with MLS’s D.C. United, the NWSL’s Washington Spirit and UFL’s D.C. Defenders.
In an announcement Monday, DC Power FC said the name was chosen because Washington is “our nation’s center of power” and symbolizes “strength and determination.
