This afternoon the Washington Spirit signed forward Mallory Eubanks while putting Cali Farquharson on the disabled list due to a left tibial stress injury. Per NWSL rules, Farquharson will be ineligible to play for at least 45 days, and the Spirit are in the meantime allowed to use her roster spot. Putting Farquharson on the disabled list opens up both the space and need for Eubanks.
Washington selected Eubanks in the second round of this January’s NWSL college draft, and she has been training with the team all season. While Estefania Banini and Yanara Aedo were at the Copa America Feminina during April, Eubanks was signed as a National Team Replacement Player.
