The U.S. men’s national soccer team is close to a deal to play Colombia in a Copa América tuneup June 8 at FedEx Field in Landover, people familiar with the matter said Thursday.
The match would fall 15 days before the Americans open group play in the famed South American tournament, set to take place in the United States for the second time in eight years.
The U.S. Soccer Federation has been working on two heavyweight friendlies during the three-week training camp, which will open June 3. Brazil is reportedly the other opponent, June 12 at a venue to be determined.
