U.S. women’s soccer team remains unbeaten in 2016 with 3-0 victory over Colombia

CHESTER, Pa. – With a 3-0 victory over Colombia on Sunday, the U.S. women’s national soccer team again demonstrated both its sheer power and the chasm between the three-time world champions and most of the global field.

Though women’s soccer, as a whole, has made strides over the years, the Americans remain in a snug group of elite, supported programs. The disparity within the Americas is particularly striking: Aside from Brazil and Canada, underfunded foes remain far behind.

Take Colombia, which last year frustrated the United States in the World Cup round of 16 before falling, 2-0.
