PANAMA CITY — With a six-goal romp over Honduras on Friday, the U.S. national soccer team rejoined the hunt for a 2018 World Cup berth and began to cast aside the wreckage of a campaign’s flawed start.
But as every last soul in the delegation was quick to point out, it was just one match. And it was at home. And everything, aside from injuries and a few sloppy moments, went just right.
So while they’ve improved their place in the six-nation standings and boosted their confidence after a pair of defeats, the reclamation job is incomplete.
