After Ouleymata Sarr fired a shot through traffic and into the corner of the net, there was an eruption of fireworks and an outburst of relief.
Her 52nd-minute strike Saturday night was the Washington Spirit’s first goal of September. It was the first time it had scored from somewhere other than the penalty spot since Aug. 19. And it was the first NWSL goal for Sarr, a French international who joined the Spirit from Paris FC in June.

It also leveled a critical late-season match against Kansas City.
