Travis Worra posts clean sheet in first MLS start as D.C. United draws at New England

Travis Worra grew up in Amish Country in southeastern Pennsylvania before the Philadelphia Union took root. So as a kid, he supported D.C. United. Before heading off to the University of New Hampshire, he visited RFK Stadium to witness between 10 and 15 matches.

“Ten-year-old Travis in braces looking like an idiot,” he said. “I’ve always been a United fan.”

Undrafted out of college, Worra had a successful trial with United at 2015 training camp to earn the No. 3 goalkeeping slot. Most of his rookie campaign was spent in Richmond with the third-division Kickers. His only MLS appearance came as a second-half substitute for the injured Andrew Dykstra in Vancouver almost a year ago.
