There is a proven winner D.C. United should consider for its coaching job: Jill Ellis

Over the next several weeks and perhaps months, D.C. United will conduct a coaching search to replace Ben Olsen, who was fired Thursday after a decade as head coach. The team will evaluate potential candidates from near and far, sifting through portfolios from the MLS fraternity and the international candidate pool.

Ellis is best known for guiding the U.S. national team to the past two Women’s World Cup titles, an unprecedented feat. Her coaching experience traces to 1988, starting in the college ranks and passing through U.S. youth development and junior national teams.

She managed big personalities and fragile egos, implemented tactical plans and adjusted to changing circumstances.
