In its latest effort to snap an extended winless drought before losing a chunk of the team to international play, the Washington Spirit came out firing against Racing Louisville.
From the outset, the Spirit were far more threatening in attack than it was in last week’s loss to North Carolina. But Friday night’s 2-2 draw at Segra Field included the same inability to hold a lead. After going into halftime with a two-goal edge, the late-game heroics belonged to the visitors as Louisville’s Nadia Nadim scored a second-half brace that extended the defending NWSL champions’ winless run to 11 games.
