“I am beyond excited to be joining the Washington Spirit,” Krueger said in a Wednesday news release. “From the outstanding leadership to the incredibly talented roster, it is clear that this is a world class organization that’s leading the way in women’s football. I look forward to continuing my growth as a player in the Nation’s Capital and helping the team accomplish even more success.”
Krueger, 33, was first called up to the U.S. women’s national team in 2016. She helped the Americans qualify for the 2019 World Cup but was a surprise omission from that tournament roster.
