Organizers of the 2019 Concacaf Gold Cup selected 15 U.S. venues to stage matches, but despite the inclusion of several MLS stadiums, including two new ones, D.C. United’s Audi Field was not among them.
Banc of California Stadium, which opened this spring for Los Angeles FC, and Allianz Field, home to Minnesota United starting next year, made the list.
United officials showed initial interest but did not pursue it further.
A spokesman said the organization has been “laser-focused on opening Audi Field [this summer] and did not submit a bid for Gold Cup this time around.
