Celtic FC, the Glasgow soccer club that has dominated the Scottish Premiership for more than a decade, will play a July 20 friendly against D.C. United at Audi Field, organizers said Tuesday.
The visit is part of a preseason tour that is expected to include two additional matches in the United States, including one against Chelsea on July 27 in South Bend, Ind. Tickets to the D.C. match go on sale to the general public March 27. The game is included in full season ticket packages.
Celtic last played in Washington in July 2006, a 4-0 defeat at RFK Stadium that featured a goal by 17-year-old Freddy Adu, who was in his third and final season in Washington.
