Italy’s national anti-doping tribunal has banned Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba for four years after a drug test in August showed levels of testosterone that could not be created naturally. Should Pogba serve the full length of the suspension, it seems likely that his career is over.
Pogba, who turns 31 next month, was provisionally suspended in September after a random drug test showed elevated levels of testosterone following Juventus’s 3-0 win over Udinese on Aug. 20. A test of Pogba’s B sample in October confirmed the initial findings.
The World Anti-Doping Code mandates a two- to four-year suspension for doping violations, depending on if it can be proved that the player ingested the substance intentionally.
