Ola Kamara placed the ball on the penalty spot in the 72nd minute Saturday with an opportunity to not only shatter D.C. United’s scoreless deadlock with shorthanded Inter Miami, but make amends for four squandered chances in the first half.
Given Kamara’s inefficiency, Coach Hernán Losada could have turned to someone else. Instead, he stuck with his starting striker, who did not disappoint this time, coolly sticking the penalty kick into the net as part of United’s 1-0 victory before 15,500 at Audi Field, the largest home crowd since before the pandemic.
Three weeks after winning in South Florida thanks to a pair of Kamara goals, United (4-5-0) returned from the international break and defeated Miami (2-5-2) again.
