Major League Soccer’s disciplinary committee has suspended D.C. United Coach Ben Olsen for one match for stepping onto the field last weekend to retrieve a stray, second ball.
The league is planning to announce the suspension and video soon, but Olsen confirmed it to the Insider. He was also fined $500.
He will have to watch Saturday’s game against the New England Revolution from the mezzanine level at RFK Stadium. Assistant Chad Ashton will oversee the team on the sideline.
Olsen was in violation of “entering the field of play/leaving bench & technical area” in the 80th minute.
