For a dozen years, weekend after weekend over eight-month MLS regular seasons, Bobby Boswell has almost always begun his workday on a soccer field somewhere in North America. Only five players in league history have appeared in more games and only two have notched more starts — prodigious feats for someone passed over for 96 players in the 2005 regular and supplemental drafts and forced to defy odds by winning a contract at training camp.
But with D.C. United‘s opener a few days away, Boswell’s place in Coach Ben Olsen’s plans is not as firm as in the past.
