MLS has suspended D.C. United’s Jose Guillermo Ortiz for one match for what the disciplinary committee ruled was a dive at a pivotal moment during a 1-0 victory over the Vancouver Whitecaps on Saturday, the Insider learned Monday.
League officials did not immediately confirm the suspension, but an official announcement is expected ahead of United’s match at Orlando City on Wednesday. United officials declined to comment on Ortiz’s apparent ban.
The league’s action comes less a week after the disciplinary committee fined Ortiz an undisclosed amount for diving in the second half against the Chicago Fire on May 20 at RFK Stadium.
