MLS Cup gets a Saturday night network TV slot this season

MLS Cup will take place on a Saturday night for the first time in history and return to national network TV after an eight-year absence.

Fox will carry the Dec. 10 match, which is also the latest date to decide the championship in the league’s 21-season history. Kickoff is sometime after 8 p.m. ET. UniMas and Univision Deportes are the Spanish providers.

ESPN showed MLS Cup the past seven years. ESPN’s partner, ABC, was the national carrier over 13 seasons.

The Insider was first to report last week that the league had chosen Dec. 10.
