D.C. United has continued their trading spree: after getting rid of Kennedy Igboananike to the Portland Timbers, the team is also trading Miguel Aguilar to the LA Galaxy. First reported by Steve Goff, Black and Red United can now confirm the trade and can confirm that the teams will also exchange fourth round draft picks, with United getting LA’s 2018 fourth rounder and LA getting United’s 2019 fourth rounder.
This trade continues United’s spree of trading non-starting players who use up an international roster spot, ahead of tomorrow’s expansion draft. The team obviously wants to be able to protect as many of its starters as possible, and getting rid of non-starting internationals means that they will be able to protect more players like Kofi Opare, Bobby Boswell, Rob Vincent, or Jared Jeffrey.
