One day before opening his first training camp, U.S. men’s national soccer team coach Mauricio Pochettino on Sunday made three roster changes because of injuries.
Mexico-based forwards Brandon Vázquez and Alex Zendejas and France-based midfielder Tanner Tessmann will replace forwards Folarin Balogun and Tim Weah and midfielder Johnny Cardoso, the U.S. Soccer Federation announced. The moves came four days after Pochettino set a 25-man squad for friendlies against Panama on Saturday in Austin and Mexico on Oct. 15 in Guadalajara.
Balogun, the U.S. team’s top striker, hurt his shoulder Saturday after scoring in his third consecutive Ligue 1 match for Monaco.
