Luis Rubiales, former president of the Spanish soccer federation, has been summoned to appear before a judge from the Spanish High National Court to testify as a defendant Friday. Prosecutors have accused Rubiales, who resigned from the federation Sunday, of sexual assault and coercion after forcing an unwanted kiss on midfielder Jennifer Hermoso during the women’s World Cup trophy ceremony last month.
The judge, Enrique de Jorge, on Monday asked the police to compel videos of the kiss itself from different angles as well as other related images, including of the celebration that followed in the locker room and the team bus, from different Spanish media as evidence.
