Loudoun United’s took the thrill of a 3-3 draw from the weekend and came into Wednesday’s game with the Charleston Battery looking to get some points that were needed. They failed to take advantage of it, losing 2-1 after a subpar first half of play left coach Ryan Martin disappointed with his team on micro and macro levels, and looking ahead to how his team responded. The Battery came to within three points of tonight’s opponents, the Ottawa Fury, thus rendering Loudoun’s playoff push even harder.
Martin is attempting to strike the balance between not burning Loudoun out in the second game of five in a two and a half week period, and getting points in this period as all of which are against teams that are above the red line in the Eastern Conference.
