D.C. United prospect Kristian Fletcher has gone overseas again, this time to join Premier League club Nottingham Forest’s junior squad for a season-long loan that he said he hopes becomes a permanent move.
The 19-year-old forward, from Bowie, Md., and Landon School, starred on loan with Swansea City’s under-21 squad last fall. That arrangement, though, was for four months with a second-division club and did not include a transfer option.
This deal is through June with a top-flight organization and provides flexibility for Nottingham Forest to purchase his contract. The fee would probably be about $2 million, one person close to the situation said.
