After Denmark opened the tournament with the unspeakable trauma of seeing midfielder Christian Eriksen go into cardiac arrest on the field, the Danes rallied to advance to the knockout round despite just one win in group play. But they then blew out Wales in the round of 16 and edged the Czech Republic in the quarterfinals.
England, meanwhile, enjoyed a 2-0-1 group stage before ousting rival Germany and shellacking Ukraine. While Denmark won Euro 92, England has never played in a European Championship final.
