CHICAGO — Coach Gregg Berhalter has spoken to young star Gio Reyna about returning to the U.S. men’s national soccer team soon, almost a year since their falling out at the World Cup in Qatar.
According to Matt Crocker, the U.S. Soccer Federation’s sporting director, Berhalter has spoken to Reyna and plans to invite the 20-year-old attacker to training camp when he is deemed physically ready.
“Gregg has had conversations with Gio,” Crocker said Sunday during a roundtable with a group of reporters. “We’re in a place whereas soon as Gio is fit, he’d be in the next camp and there’s a way forward.
