Good news for D.C. United: Espindola’s injury not as serious as feared

D.C. United forward Fabian Espindola will miss one to two weeks with a hamstring injury instead of two to four as initially feared, Coach Ben Olsen said Wednesday.

“We’re pleasantly surprised it’s Grade One,” Olsen said. “It should be only a week or two. He is not in training [now], and next week [he’ll] start moving around and we’ll take it day to day. I wouldn’t rule him out for next weekend but it’s a hamstring. It’s always best to be a little safe with this stuff.”

Espindola, the club’s co-leader in goals with three, will miss Saturday’s MLS match at Chicago.
