A UEFA Champions League round-of-16 matchup between Liverpool and RB Leipzig was thrown into uncertainty Thursday when the German government confirmed it would not let the British team enter its country. Legislation passed last week in Germany barring entry for most travelers from countries — including the United Kingdom — hit hard by concerning new variants of the coronavirus.
Leipzig was set to host the first leg of the matchup at its stadium, Red Bull Arena, on Feb. 16. Possible solutions could include finding a neutral site outside of Germany to host the game or switching the date of the matchup so that Liverpool could host the first leg.
