Four days ago, in defending his MLS referees about issuing a high number of red cards, officiating chief Peter Walton said that “if players continue making such challenges, referees will continue making such decisions.”
Such a challenge was unleashed Sunday night by the Los Angeles Galaxy’s villainous midfielder, Nigel De Jong, on Darlington Nagbe.
