Freddy Adu, the one-time American soccer prodigy, has bounced around the planet for a decade seeking a place to play regularly.
Now he is on the move again.
Adu, 27, is not expected to rejoin the Tampa Bay Rowdies in 2017, multiple sources said Wednesday. His contract expired this offseason.
Adu was with the club in the second-tier North American Soccer League for 1 1/2 years, making 13 regular season appearances and starting seven times without scoring. This year, he totaled 136 minutes in five appearances (one start).
The Rowdies are moving to the United Soccer League, a growing third-flight circuit that is seeking second-division status from the U.
