The U.S. Soccer Federation is finalizing a friendly for the men’s national team June 9 against France in Lyon, one of several expected matches for the Americans in May and June in lieu of a World Cup appearance.
The French federation has already announced the match. A USSF spokesman said: “While the contract has not been signed, we are finalizing plans to play France on June 9 in Lyon. An official announcement is expected soon.”
At the World Cup in Russia, France will open Group C against Australia on June 16 in Kazan.
Aside from the early-summer friendlies, the USSF is pursuing two matches during the March 19-27 international window, probably overseas.
