Jill Ellis, who coached the U.S. women’s national soccer team to two World Cup titles, stepped down as president of the San Diego Wave on Tuesday to accept a job with the sport’s global governing body.
Ellis, 58, will become FIFA’s chief football officer, “driving the development and implementation of global football strategy,” the Zurich-based organization said. She will work alongside Arsène Wenger, the famed former Arsenal men’s coach, who is FIFA’s chief of global football development.
