When he arrived at RFK Stadium for the U.S. national team’s training session Monday, Perry Kitchen couldn’t help but reflect on his five seasons at the East Capitol Street venue as a D.C. United midfielder: the 155 starts and 10 goals, the three MLS playoff appearances and U.S. Open Cup title, the team MVP award and the unbreakable bonds with teammates and staff.
It felt like home again.
“I spent five years here,” he said ahead of Tuesday’s U.S. friendly against New Zealand, “so it has special meaning for me.”
