Since May, more than 30 players have joined — or, in some cases, rejoined — MLS clubs from outside the league. The only teams not to sign anyone were the Colorado Rapids and D.C. United, which made several trades. Base salaries and overall compensation for the newcomers come from numbers submitted by the league to the MLS Players Union.
The figures are as if they were playing a full year. Recent homegrown signings are not included on the list below.
Of note: In his final year before retiring, Landon Donovan was earning about $4.6 million in total compensation.
