Taylor Kemp, D.C. United’s first-choice left back for more than three years, is likely to miss the rest of the season with a groin injury.

Kemp traveled to St. Louis to see a specialist this week and, depending on the evaluation, could undergo surgery right away, Coach Ben Olsen said Thursday. If that happens, the former Maryland Terrapin would sit out the final six matches.

“Signs are pointing towards them having to go in and fix something,” Olsen said.

Kemp played every minute in 22 starts over United’s first 23 matches before withdrawing from the past five games.
