Julian Buescher, D.C. United’s 2016 first-round draft pick who showed promise as a rookie but appeared in only seven regular season matches this year, wrote on his social media accounts Tuesday that he will not return to the MLS club next year.
United officials said they will not comment on possible roster moves until the end of the month when final decisions are made about contract options and other personnel issues. Buescher’s statements, though, are consistent with the team’s plans for the attacking midfielder, who was loaned to a second-division team in August.
“I wanted to take an opportunity to say thank you to the whole organization, fans, & family I was able to be a part of over the past two years,” the German native wrote on his Instagram page.
