Fielding a lineup that’s likely to open the season next weekend, D.C. United capped its preseason campaign Saturday with a 4-2 away victory over the second-division Las Vegas Lights before 7,158 at Cashman Field.
Yamil Asad scored late in the first half, Darren Mattocks notched his third goal of training camp early in the second half, and substitutes Ian Harkes and Luciano Acosta added late strikes as United won its third straight following a defeat to Swedish champion Malmo. Paul Arriola recorded three assists.
Freddy Adu, who 14 years ago launched his career with D.C., played most of the second half in his Las Vegas debut.
