D.C. United will open the season Feb. 29 against the Colorado Rapids at Audi Field, MLS announced Thursday.
Game time is 1 p.m., making it the first kickoff of the league’s 25th season. It’s the first time the league will begin a season in February.
Although the full schedule is not expected for several weeks, United is likely to play at home on the second weekend as well. By process of elimination, it could be against any of 10 teams.
In announcing the home openers for all 26 clubs, MLS said FC Cincinnati will host United on March 14.
