While Bill Hamid is D.C. United’s clear choice to start in goal, Coach Ben Olsen is not sure who will begin the MLS season as the primary backup.
Over the winter, United acquired veteran Chris Seitz from the Houston Dynamo and Earl Edwards Jr. from Orlando City.
Seitz, who will turn 32 next month, is the more experienced option, but Edwards, who just turned 27, has enough upside to compete for the secondary role.
“It’s a good little problem we have,” Olsen said. “They are both capable.”
Barring injury and possible U.S. national team assignments, Hamid will probably start most, if not all, regular season matches.
