D.C. United on Friday completed the most lucrative transfer in its MLS history, sending 18-year-old wing back Kevin Paredes to Bundesliga club Wolfsburg for $7.35 million.
United will receive additional money if Paredes reaches unspecified performance thresholds and a percentage of any future transfer.
“I can hardly wait to get going,” Paredes — who traveled to Germany this week for a physical and to complete the deal — told Wolfsburg’s website. “My first impressions of the facilities here are awesome. I’m very pleased to be here and I’m eager about taking on the new challenge and succeeding.
