D.C. United announced today that they have traded homegrown midfielder Collin Martin to Minnesota United for a 2018 fourth round pick in the MLS SuperDraft. Martin has been plagued by injuries throughout his entire tenure at D.C. United, playing a total of 15 games for the team since his signing in 2013 out of Wake Forest University.
When healthy, Martin spent most of his time in Richmond with the Kickers, showing the kind of promise that you would hope from a young player looking to be able to contribute at an MLS level. In 2014 he was especially impactful, helping lead the team through an unprecedented unbeaten streak before being called back to United because of injuries in front of him.
