D.C. United struggles to score and is missing its top attacker. Now it faces Schweinsteiger.

A D.C. United team that doesn’t score often will attempt to salvage a disappointing homestand Saturday without its most important attacking player while also trying to fend off a surging opponent.

Luciano Acosta will serve a one-match suspension for receiving a red card during a 4-0 defeat to the Philadelphia Union last weekend.

In sifting through replacement options, Coach Ben Olsen took into account both Acosta’s void and the Chicago Fire’s potency. If the looming threat of German superstar Bastian Schweinsteiger and Co. is swaying his opinion, Olsen is likely to take a defensive posture in central midfield with Marcelo Sarvas as the top candidate to join Ian Harkes and Jared Jeffrey.
