ORLANDO — D.C. United doesn’t keep the ball for sustained periods or score very often. Out of necessity, the low-budget lineup is in constant flux. Of late, the results have been better on the road than at home.
United is the bluest of blue-collar sides and, without a fluid attack, can’t afford to squander the precious few prospects that comes its way. That was again the case Wednesday and, with a golden chance to claim points against struggling Orlando City, United botched two sure scoring opportunities in the second half.
The Lions won, 2-0, on Cyle Larin’s header midway through the second half and Bill Hamid’s blunder on Giles Barnes’s late effort on a rainy night before an announced 24,112 at Orlando City Stadium.
