D.C. United has signed its second-round draft pick, Paul Clowes, who becomes the seventh midfielder to join the MLS club this winter.
Clowes, an Englishman who played four years at Clemson University, is a defensive midfielder selected 32nd overall last month. He will take a place on the supplemental roster (slots 21-28, which do not count against the salary cap) and become a candidate for assignment to the Richmond Kickers, United’s third-division USL affiliates.
Terms were not disclosed.
“As far back as this fall, Paul impressed us with consistent, excellent performances,” General Manager Dave Kasper said.
